On a modern car the battery is part of an electronic system. The car's computer decides how the battery is charged, so it has to know when the battery has been replaced.
A replacement battery has to be registered and coded to the car, and we do that as part of the job. This applies to BMWs with an Intelligent Battery Sensor, most cars from the mid-2000s onward.
A new battery, like a new headlight or module, often needs coding to the car before it works correctly and the fault lights clear. We do this as part of the job.
On many Porsches built from the mid-2000s onward, even a routine battery swap has to be registered to the car with a diagnostic tool.
On Audi and Volkswagen, in particular cars with start-stop, the new battery has to be registered so the charging system does not mismanage it. Skip this step and you can be left with charging faults or warning lights.
Dubai heat. Dubai's heat puts extra strain on batteries and alternators, especially on a car left parked in direct sun for hours. It is one of the most common causes of a no-start we see that turns out to have nothing to do with the starter itself.

No. Battery replacement and coding are done only at our workshop in Dubai Investments Park 1. Please drive or tow the car to us.
Because the car's computer manages how the battery is charged. It adapts its charging strategy to the age and condition of the battery, and on BMW the Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS) tracks them. If a new battery is not registered, the car keeps charging it as if the old, worn battery were still there. That shortens the life of the new battery and can cause electrical faults. Cars with start-stop use AGM or EFB batteries, and the type that is fitted has to be registered too.
Replacement with coding takes from 30 minutes. Appointment required: book in advance by call or WhatsApp.
Labour is AED 49 for cars that need no registration and AED 125 for replacement with registration/coding (excl. 5% VAT). Coding only starts from AED 100. The battery test is free with replacement. The battery itself is extra: 350-1700 AED depending on your car, and the exact battery is quoted before work.
Genuine or aftermarket, your choice, agreed in the written quote before any work starts. We fit Varta, Bosch and other quality AGM/EFB brands (e.g. Exide), or genuine BMW/Mercedes-Benz batteries.

Yes. A charging system test is part of the diagnosis, together with the battery test with our UNI-T UT673A battery tester. If the test points to a fault in the starting or charging system, we diagnose it further and quote the repair after diagnostics.
